Indiana Internal Medicine/Center for Respiratory & Sleep Medicine has a Pulmonary Function Lab. Our lab can perform a variety of lung function studies for patients with asthma, emphysema, COPD and a variety of other lung conditions. A Respiratory Therapist administers the testing and our pulmonary physicians review these lung function studies.

What is a Pulmonary Function Test?

A pulmonary function test is a series of five tests that measure lung function. The tests provide information about the amount of air a person's lungs can hold and how effectively the lungs work.

Why is the Test Performed?

A pulmonary function test can be used to diagnose respiratory conditions such as COPD (chronic obstructive lung disease), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, reactive airway disease (asthma), and other respiratory diseases such as cystic fibrosis.
